You're that guy in the air who responded to an anti-McCain diary with an anti-Democrat post.

You're right (none / 0)

Even Dukakis can win this year.

not really (none / 0)

as Bush I was down for the entire first half of 1988 in the polls, no, until August, yet Dukakis still couldn't win. Even after S/L and Iran Contra, he lost. If we had had a good candidate in 1988, we would have won that election. We still managed to blow it.

You're right (2.00 / 1)

nominating someone just because that person is ahead in the polls is a terrible idea.

Re: You're right (none / 0)

but nominating someone who is consistently down, like McGovern and Mondale isn't a good idea either.

Although (none / 0)

nominating Bill Clinton, who couldn't even beat the Independent in June 1992, was ok.

Re: Although (none / 0)

thats cuz Perot was siphoning his votes and he was going against an unpopular incumbent, and Perot was the hot new thing. Thats the only time candidates down in polls in the start wins, as in Reagan 1980 and Clinton 1992, or with a hid candidate like Dukakis.

she's actually connecting (none / 0)

with voters, not talking down at them like a cult leader like Obama. You know, photo ops like that win elections. Bush in cowboy hats won him the election, as did Reagan with a monkey.

so you're saying (none / 0)

pretending to be someone you're not wins you elections?

I call that condescending. I can go to Mississippi and pretend like i'm on one of them...I'm not.

not to voters, (none / 0)

they like it. That is why Bush in cowboy hats won him two terms. Same with Reagan and the monkey. thats why Republicans win.

this is politics. (none / 0)

and it is a rough game. I'd rather our candidate put on a bullshit show and win than not and lose. Wouldn't you? I care about winning first, principle second. You can't fight for any principles if you don't make the White House first.

No (none / 0)

I'd rather our candidate tell the truth and win.

The bullshit show will only lead to an unpopular Presidency when the lying candidate cannot deliver on his or her castle in the sky promises.

Yeah - I'm assuming you linked something there, but my screen just has a lot of white space.  Strange, other pictures come through fine.
